Postdoctoral Research Fellow

Stanford University

I am a postdoctoral research fellow in the department of Earth and Planetary Sciences at Stanford University. I am a member of the Stanford Mineral-X.

As the global energy sector is shifting from fossil fuels to renewable energy sources, the demand for minerals is projected to increase dramatically in the next decades, because of their uses in the manufacture of mobile phones, flat screen monitors, solar wind turbines, electrical vehicles, etc. It is, therefore, imperative to keep finding more mineral resources to keep up with the rapidly increasing demand. My research focuses on addressing significant challenges associated with mineral exploration, and leading to a step change in the discovery of new mineral deposits.

I am currently working with Prof. Jef Caers on exploring mineral resources as well as quantifying the uncertainties of mineral deposits using geological, geochemical and geophysical measurements.

Before joining Stanford, I received my Ph.D. in geophysics advised by Prof. Jiajia Sun at University of Houston in 2022. My doctoral dissertation has made innovative contributions to airborne gravity and magnetic methods of exploring minerals. I developed effective methods to analyze the spatial variabilities of geological units and the uncertainties of geophysical (joint) inversions.

I have extensive experience with real field case studies. I have explored diverse resources in the Elk Creek, Nebraska, north-east Iowa, Northwest Territories, Quest, British Columbia, and Mufulira, Zambia.

Around the theme of critical mineral exploration, my research interests include:

a. Geophysical separate and joint inversions
b. Uncertainty quantification
c. Geoscience data integration
d. Deep learning for geosciences
